EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ New Deal ISD has opened a brand new elementary and middle school today on a redesigned campus for kindergarten through eighth graders. The project, funded by a $48.5-million bond approved in 2021, features a tornado shelter gym, dedicated cafeteria, and a band hall for all students. FOX34
- ➤ New Deal ISD has opened a new elementary and middle school built with modern security and learning features after a $48.5 million bond passed in 2021. The facility now hosts K-4 on one side and 5-8 on the other and includes a tornado shelter — a first for the district. KCBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews in south Lubbock have begun blocking off the intersection (Highway 87 and 114th Street) today as they resurface roads, and drivers should expect periodic delays through the week. FOX34
- ➤ The City of Lubbock is now accepting applications for Lubbock 101 Citizens Academy, a program that offers residents eight sessions, department tours & field days with multiple city departments.
