- ➤ Lubbock’s Continuum of Care marked one full year by uniting local organizations to address the housing shortage with monthly community days offering shelter, medical, and supportive services, and it will soon expand its efforts to help more residents. KCBD
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ After heavy snowfall and record lows from Jan. 23–27, Atmos Energy said customers may use payment options (Budget Billing and an Installment Plan) to manage higher natural gas bills caused by increased usage. They can visit the online Account Center for further information and local energy assistance. KCBD
- ➤ PetSmart has filed permits for a new pet supply and grooming store at the Commons South shopping center on Quaker Avenue in south Lubbock — construction will start on March 1 and is expected to finish Sept. 1. KKAM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Blaire Elbert, a Lubbock alum known for her voice and songwriting, will compete in NBC’s The Voice: Battle of Champions starting Feb. 23 at 8:00 p.m. — she represents her hometown — as she seeks national attention. KCBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wayland Baptist University will host Pioneer Preview on Friday, Feb. 20 to welcome high school and transfer students for campus tours, academic sessions, and interactions with faculty and staff (lunch is provided at the Plainview campus). KCBD
- ➤ Lubbock Christian University will host Homecoming 2026 from Feb. 12–14 with a 5K Run/Walk that supports student scholarships, home basketball games and a Master Follies show on campus. Alumni, families and community members are invited to join the celebrations and cheer on the Chap teams. FOX34
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Jodey Arrington secured $5.64 million for Lamesa infrastructure projects as part of a $19.24 million Ports-to-Plains corridor plan. The funding will pay for road safety studies and convert local roads into one-way pairs + help plan an I-27 extension. FOX34
