The 74th annual Lubbock Lions Club Pancake Festival took place on Valentine’s Day and served thousands with 6,000 pounds of pancake mix and 72,000 sausage links - the event raised over $1.9 million to benefit more than 30 local charities.

The Unity Center, a new Islamic mosque and community center, has opened today in the former Arnett Elementary School in northeast Lubbock to offer sports fields and equipment for all.

Volunteers made 30,000 food bags for charities during the opening weekend and a barbecue cookout is planned for today.
