COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Twenty-two volunteers joined the World Mission Society Church of God at McKenzie Park Sunday — over 30 bags of trash were collected to maintain the park’s cleanliness for the community.  KCBD

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lubbock County will open its new medical examiner’s facility Thursday near the county detention center, ending years of outsourcing forensic and autopsy services. The project was funded by a 2023 bond + contracted with UMC to meet future needs.  FOX34
  • James Talarico, a Senate candidate, visited Lubbock Sunday to stress rising living costs, education, and health care while warning against billionaire policies. Congresswoman Crockett will visit Monday as the primary race strengthens locally.  FOX34
  • Lubbock County’s new medical examiner’s office will open Thursday near the county detention center to provide local forensic and autopsy services after years of outsourcing. Voters approved funding in a 2023 bond election and UMC is contracted to support services, and the facility offers room for future expansion.  KCBD
