CULTURE NEWS

  • Local bands Indego and Bees At Breakfast perform tonight at Jake's Backroom with doors opening at 8 p.m. and music starting at 8:30, and Indego will release their new single Get Worse at midnight.  KKAM
  • The ABC Pro Rodeo will celebrate 83 years of cowboy heritage at the Mallet Event Center (2320 South US-385, Levelland) from April 2 to 4. Performances on April 2 and 3 will begin at 7:30 p.m. while April 4 will offer shows at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.  KKAM

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Lubbock Feeders feedlot closed today after 70 years of operation—ending a long chapter in local business that shaped the city's scents. The closure is expected to affect feed suppliers, veterinarians and transport services while residents wonder if new, fresher aromas will emerge.  KFYO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lubbock ISD has announced two new leadership hires and recognized over 100 students for excellence (music, athletics and career education). Dr. Christopher Anderson becomes Chief Operations Officer on March 9 and Jeremy Sagebiel starts as Executive Director of Facilities, Planning and Construction Operations on April 20.  FOX34

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • About 150 to 200 residents attended a Thursday town hall where representatives from Aligned Data Centers explained plans for an AI center north of Abernathy — addressing water use, sustainability and construction issues. Mayor Harold Bufe said he would oppose any project that might harm residents.  KCBD

HEALTH NEWS

  • Texas Tech junior Aaron Delgado has been cancer free (since April 2025) after a tough battle with stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma that led to rounds of chemotherapy starting in July 2024. He now works to overcome lingering treatment side effects and is reclaiming his passion for basketball and campus life.  KCBD
  • Former Lubbock councilman Randy Christian has entered hospice care at home after decades fighting cancers linked to Lynch syndrome, including recent stomach and esophageal cancer diagnoses. He and his wife have decided to focus on managing his pain with hospice support while he continues advocating for cancer awareness.  FOX34
  • Covenant Children’s Hospital and Spirit Halloween celebrated their 16-year partnership with an annual donation presentation that set a record with over $53,500, funding therapeutic resources such as play tools + sensory items + music therapy. The generous gift supports the hospital’s Child Life programs for young patients and their families.  KCBD
