- ➤ New Deal Farmers Market will open Saturday, Apr. 4 in north Lubbock, offering fresh produce, milk, eggs, honey, baked goods, and artisan goods, hosted by Feed King. Local shoppers can explore this new venue and support nearby vendors. KFYO
- ➤ Eight local senior volunteers were honored Saturday for completing over 4,000 hours of service at an award ceremony hosted by the Lubbock RSVP (sponsored by Texas Tech Health Sciences Center's Garrison Institute on Aging). Certificates were replaced with a proclamation from Sen. John Cornyn due to a government shutdown. KCBD
- ➤ A monthly pickleball tournament will raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association as part of the Do What You Love Campaign. Organized by Mark Little with Lubbock Indoor Pickleball, the event is held the fourth Saturday each month in Lubbock — supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s. FOX34
- ➤ Fireworks sales in Lubbock are in doubt as a local ban halted Texas Independence Day plans because of dry, windy conditions. Officials say if weather allows, sales will begin for San Jacinto Day on April 16 and may continue during Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day windows. KKAM

- ➤ A local poll of over 120 Lubbock food lovers showed Garcia’s enchilada sauce earning 17 mentions to top the city’s enchilada rankings + voters praised its rich flavor as Anna’s and Montelongo’s followed closely behind. KFYO
- ➤ The 23rd Annual African American History Month Program was held at T.J. Patterson Library Saturday afternoon to honor local media figures (including Shania Jackson) for their contributions to celebrating decades of Black excellence. FOX34
- ➤ Country singer Josh Turner will perform at Buddy Holly Hall on May 21 in Lubbock; tickets went on sale on Feb. 25. His tour features his signature country hits, promising local fans a memorable night of live music. KKAM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Forty-eight teams from Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, El Paso and New Mexico competed Saturday at the West Texas Robotics Championship hosted by Texas Tech Whitacre College of Engineering. Middle and high school students built and programmed robots for challenges that will allow winners to advance to UIL, state and world championships. FOX34
