- ➤ The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, County Commissioner’s Court, City Council and South Plains Coalition for Child Abuse Prevention will launch the 15th Go Blue campaign—raising awareness in National Child Abuse Prevention Month. A conference and ribbon-cutting will occur on Wednesday, April 1 at 9 a.m. at 1500 Broadway, Suite 101. FOX34
- ➤ Local leaders launch the 15th Annual Go Blue Lubbock County campaign to raise child abuse prevention awareness. The campaign will begin on April 1 at 9 a.m. at the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce (1500 Broadway, Suite 101) and include a child abuse conference on April 24. KCBD
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Residents evacuated for a gas leak near 18th St. and Toledo Ave returned home around 11 a.m. today after Lubbock Fire Rescue confirmed the area was safe (a third party damaged a four-inch gas line). ATMOS will repair the line over the next week. FOX34
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Comedian Brad Williams will perform his Tall Tales Tour on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Buddy Holly Hall. He said his act avoids political jokes to keep humor accessible for local audiences. KCBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock ISD began demolition of O.L. Slaton Middle School on Wednesday for a new elementary school serving Bean Elementary at 32nd and Avenue Q. The new school will open in August 2028 as part of a plan that consolidates five campuses into three. KCBD
- ➤ Atmos Energy employees visited Bean Elementary on Wednesday to read to pre-K and kindergarten students as part of its Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program. Lubbock mayor Mark McBrayer, Councilman Gordan Harris, ISD staff and volunteers were on hand as students left with backpacks containing a new book and supplies. KCBD

- ➤ Covenant Children's is opening a new neonatal intensive care unit for babies born before 30 weeks. The facility adds nine NICU beds, lower lighting, and quieter noise levels to better support patients in the region. KCBD
