BUSINESS NEWS

  • Kokomo announced it will open a new location in Lubbock this March at 5217 82nd Street, Suite 106 — the eatery will serve Asian snack treats including boba tea, k dogs and mochi donuts.  KFYO

CRIME NEWS

  • A Lubbock man, Michael Kubicek (35), who was arrested in December 2024 for parole violation and a fugitive warrant, faced new charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon after video showed him swinging a shovel at a victim (on the 200 block of Sherman Avenue) on March 15th.  KLBK

EDUCATION NEWS

  • An explosion and green fires rocked Texas Tech on March 12, causing the campus to shut down and spring break to start early—employees were told to work remotely from March 14 to March 20. Crews have restored power to 60% of the campus—while investigators work to determine the cause.  Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT is reminding drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and drive carefully near children as families spend more time outdoors during spring break. Lubbock’s Safety City offers a miniature town where kids can practice crossing streets safely — officials urge parents to also teach traffic rules at home.  KCBD

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • USA Today named award-winning Texas restaurants as best in the nation by selecting Dai Due in Austin and Jimenez Tortilleria y Taqueria in Lubbock—known for its weekend barbecue and popular breakfast burritos among local college students.  KFYO
