- ➤ The Volunteer Center of Lubbock is inviting residents to 806 ServeFest on May 1 (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center and other service sites, featuring a free breakfast, a keynote by executive coach Jason Vinson, and an agency fair. Participants can RSVP now to join various volunteer projects and support local nonprofits. FOX34
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ High winds and dust storms are forecast for Lubbock today and may continue into tomorrow, reducing visibility and creating hazardous driving conditions. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Lubbock Police Department’s Motors Unit will host its Citizens Motorcycle Academy on May 10 at Wild West Harley Davidson on 58th Street — the free, day-long program will let licensed riders view the rigorous training police undergo and build their own riding skills. Participants must supply their own motorcycle, food, and safety gear as class size is limited to 16 and a waiver and background check are required by April 28. KCBD
- ➤ Mayor McBrayer will host Coffee with the Mayor with councilwoman Dr. Jennifer Wilson in District 5 (7 a.m. Friday) at Market Street (11310 Slide Rd) to let residents ask questions and discuss local issues. KCBD
