- ➤ Lubbock families can visit South Plains Mall to take photos with the Easter Bunny until April 19. The mall partners with the Humane Society to offer pet parties—available on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. FOX34
- ➤ On Saturday, March 29th, families gathered at the Riverside Park Special Events Area from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the first Backyard BBQ Bash that supported Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity—attendees enjoyed free games, a petting zoo, live music and BBQ sandwich sales that helped fund future homes. - ➤ Roni’s Mac Bar, the famous macaroni and cheese restaurant, will open its new Lubbock location at 2400 Glenna Goodacre Blvd on Wednesday, April 5 with a grand opening set to begin at 11 a.m. The event will feature a ribbon cutting — live trivia, mobile axe throwing and a contest offering a year of free mac & cheese for the first 100 customers. - ➤ TTUHSC held a Disaster Day exercise on March 28th in Lubbock where students practiced emergency care skills during a tornado simulation—students performed CPR and triaged actors and mannequins to learn hospital procedures. Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Saturday night, Lubbock Police sent extra patrol officers — including the Special Response Group and Mounted Patrol — to Broadway to keep public safety in check during the NCAA tournament game as Texas Tech took on Florida. Police said the move built on positive community engagement seen Thursday night. FOX34

- ➤ Today LCU is hosting the Doug Randolph Cup Handball Tournament at the Rec Center with over 80 college players from San Angelo State, Texas A&M and Missouri State competing for a $10k scholarship prize—named for Lubbock native Doug Randolph—and locals are invited to attend. FOX34
