- ➤ Athletes and Hockley County leaders cut the ribbon today at Mallet Event Center in Levelland for ABC Pro Rodeo. The event features bull riding, bareback riding, tie-down, steer wrestling and barrel racing with live music; tickets are open (via Select-A-Seat) to support Boys and Girls Clubs of Lubbock. FOX34
- ➤ The 17th annual Boots and Buckles benefit will raise funds for equine therapy programs at Refuge Services during dinner, live music and auctions at Texas Tech Frazier Pavilion on Saturday, Apr. 11 — tickets cost $60 and must be purchased by Monday. FOX34
- ➤ Easter Sunday shopping on April 5 may face limited hours in Lubbock as many stores close to let staff celebrate. Chains such as United Supermarkets and H-E-B will be closed, while drugstores and dollar stores are expected to open (call ahead to verify hours). KKAM

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, the TDA, and TAFA announced the AgPro grant program to help local producers cover costs for equipment and facility upgrades. Applications opened April 1 and producers have until May 14 to apply. KCBD
- ➤ Lubbock officials have imposed irrigation restrictions from April 1 through Sept. 30, requiring residents to water lawns with 1.5 inches weekly and limit watering to two assigned days per week (based on house address). - ➤ Negotiations between Texas Tech Physicians and UnitedHealthcare continue over outdated reimbursement rates for Lubbock, Amarillo, and Permian Basin campuses; if no deal is reached soon, 30,000+ patients could lose in-network coverage as talks remain in good faith. KFYO
