CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police responded to a shots fired call just after 2 a.m. (Apr. 14) on the 1800 block of Clovis Rd in north Lubbock where one person was seriously injured and taken to UMC as the investigation continues. KCBD
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock energy prices have soared after deregulation failed to bring the promised lower bills, leaving residents with monthly bills about $242.49 and rates of 17.2¢ per kilowatt-hour—far higher than in nearby areas. The change came as joining a competitive grid did not reduce costs and instead resulted in greater rates and less reliable service. KKAM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At Monday night's meeting, Lubbock ISD leaders explained Proposition A, a $290 million bond package on the May ballot that will fund $17 million for safety measures, $75 million for facility upgrades, and $151 million for consolidating six elementary schools into three new campuses. Early voting begins April 22 — the final vote is set for May 3. KLBK

- ➤ Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Jodey Arrington joined local officials yesterday at 1:30 p.m. in Lubbock to unveil signage marking a 4.2-mile segment of U.S. 87 as part of I-27—this upgrade is expected to reduce travel costs by $4.1 billion annually and create over 22,000 jobs as the new interstate boosts the local economy. - ➤ Early voting for the May 2025 Special Election in Lubbock will begin Tuesday, April 22 at 8:00 a.m.—polling locations will be open until 6:00 p.m. on that day. Additional sites, including local schools and city offices, will offer voting hours through April 29—with some open until 7:00 p.m. KLBK
