- ➤ Former Lubbock Mayor David Langston received the Diekemper Service Above Self Award on April 8 at the South Plains Food Bank during the Rotary Club luncheon (which included a $30,600 donation) in recognition of his community service. FOX34
- ➤ CASA of the South Plains begins its Casas for CASA raffle ticket sales Friday, April 17 at Market Street on 98th and Quaker. For $5 a ticket, funds will support advocacy for children in foster care with prizes including a custom-built playhouse + Mastercard gift card. FOX34
- ➤ The Volunteer Center of Lubbock will host an Earth Day park cleanup on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Leroy Elmore Park — community members of all ages are invited to join the effort to remove litter and enhance the park. KCBD
