  • Former Lubbock Mayor David Langston received the Diekemper Service Above Self Award on April 8 at the South Plains Food Bank during the Rotary Club luncheon (which included a $30,600 donation) in recognition of his community service.  FOX34
  • CASA of the South Plains begins its Casas for CASA raffle ticket sales Friday, April 17 at Market Street on 98th and Quaker. For $5 a ticket, funds will support advocacy for children in foster care with prizes including a custom-built playhouse + Mastercard gift card.  FOX34
  • The Volunteer Center of Lubbock will host an Earth Day park cleanup on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Leroy Elmore Park — community members of all ages are invited to join the effort to remove litter and enhance the park.  KCBD
  • Lubbock Animal Services launches Wish Wednesday Essentials to help animal lovers donate needed supplies such as leashes and collars to local shelters with items available online + at nearby pet shops.   • Shyguy is a 3-year-old, 55lb Boxer mix at Lubbock Animal Shelter—energetic and social, he loves playing with people and other dogs. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and treated for flea/tick prevention as he waits for his forever home.  FOX34
