ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Monday morning, deputies responded at 7:22 a.m. to a rollover accident on the 7100 block of FM 400 east of Lubbock where a 57-year-old driver was helped from his vehicle and taken to a hospital for minor injuries + the sheriff’s office is investigating the cause.  KFYO

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will host the 2025 Business Expo on May 22 at the Memorial Civic Center with a ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m. and over 100 booths and exhibitors featured, while Capra Bank supports the event—hosting a Capra Tank competition the night before—and Chamber members must reserve by May 5 with tickets at $5 in advance or at the door and complimentary passes available at 7710 Milwaukee Avenue, Suite 400.  KLBK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews working on the 19th Street project completed closures on Avenue L Monday for storm drain installation and kept Avenue N closed today for waterline tie-ins. Avenue M will close on Wednesday for storm drain work and reopen on Saturday while Avenue S is closed for paving with traffic detoured until work is finished.  FOX34
  • Early voting begins today in Lubbock County as voters can cast ballots for municipal, school and special elections — a ballot including bonds for LISD — at the Lubbock County Elections Office and select United and Market Street locations. Polls operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on most days with Election Day set for May 3.  FOX34

HEALTH NEWS

  • Texas Tech Physicians and Covenant Health restarted kidney transplant surgeries at Covenant Medical Center to ease waiting times for patients. Transplant surgeon Dr. Lyndsey Biondi performed the first kidney transplant—the patient, a man in his 40s, is now off dialysis and recovering well—marking a key step in local healthcare.  KCBD
  • Texas Tech Physicians and Covenant Health have brought back kidney transplant surgeries at Covenant Medical Center. Dr. Lyndsey Biondi performed the first transplant on a man in his 40s who is now off dialysis and recovering well—she expects the new program to cut wait times and ease travel for kidney patients.  FOX34
  • 34-year-old Lubbock musician Cam St. Menace was admitted to the ER in January with breathing problems and diagnosed with Berger's Disease, which has caused his kidneys to fail. He now needs to raise $10,000 for a transplant deposit while funds remain low — he has raised only $1,939 so far.  KKAM
  • Covenant Health revived its kidney transplant program at Covenant Medical Center to bring advanced kidney care to Lubbock and West Texas. The hospital performed its first transplant surgery on April 7 and the patient is recovering well—showing new hope for residents who once traveled far for treatment.  KLBK
