- ➤ Gary Danhof, who moved to Lubbock in 1993, will retire after decades in hospitality as he managed Texas Roadhouse, Chili’s, UMC and taught restaurant operations at Texas Tech. - ➤ Tuesday morning, a kitchen fire near East 23rd Street and Birch Ave in east Lubbock injured one person and displaced two adults—the American Red Cross is assisting them. FOX34

- ➤ On April 21st, a two-vehicle crash near Shallowater killed 21-year-old Andrew Perez, a passenger in a car driven by 20-year-old Raymond Gonzales who sustained critical injuries, and injured 31-year-old Antonia Gallegos and her passenger when Gonzales pulled out at the FM 1294 and U.S. 84 intersection — neither Perez nor Gonzales wore seatbelts — the Texas Department of Public Safety reported. - ➤ Early voting started today for the Lubbock ISD bond proposal worth $290 million, which plans to repair outdated buildings, upgrade safety, and expand academic programs without raising rates (voting runs through April 29 and Election Day is May 3). KCBD
- ➤ Wester Elementary teacher Courtney Downum was named as April's recipient of KCBD’s One Class At A Time $500 donation—sponsored by Frontier Dodge and Spirit Chrysler—and she said the funds will cover classroom supplies and reward students after STAAR testing. - ➤ Early in-person voting for the May 3 elections began today at the Lubbock County Elections Office at 1308 Crickets Ave—voters can also cast ballots at selected United Supermarket and Lubbock ISD sites in Lubbock and at locations in Abernathy, Wolfforth, New Deal, Ransom Canyon and Slaton—voting will close Tuesday, April 29th. - ➤ Allermi experts advise West Texas residents to check daily pollen counts and limit outdoor exposure during peak allergy months—February and April—to reduce symptoms like sneezing and runny noses. They recommend using air purifiers, showering after being outside, and consulting a doctor for severe reactions. KKAM
- ➤ Since late January, Texas has reported 624 measles cases with fewer than 10 actively contagious (official estimate), state health officials said. Lubbock has 47 confirmed cases as part of the outbreak while two unvaccinated children have died and 64 people have been hospitalized (statewide figures). Lubbock Avalanche-Journal
