- ➤ CASA of the South Plains advocates for foster children in six counties and currently supports 374 children with the help of 222 volunteers. The nonprofit encourages volunteers to join CASA 101 information sessions and support its mission through Casas for CASA fundraisers (a $5 ticket makes a difference). FOX34
- ➤ Daniel Ortega, a board member turned mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lubbock, says his experience boosts youth confidence. He urged locals to volunteer during National Volunteer Month to strengthen support for children + build a brighter community future. FOX34

- ➤ The Texas Tech System announced it acquired a historic 1938 home on 19th Street near campus to serve as the chancellor’s residence and event venue. The board approved the purchase on Nov. 14 and plans to partner with TTU museums to showcase the property’s legacy—no state funds were used. FOX34

- ➤ Texas holds unclaimed funds from old deposits and forgotten accounts. Lubbock residents can search the state-run website to see if money is owed and then file a claim online. KFYO
- ➤ Lubbock residents can check Texas’ unclaimed property website (it's free) to see if funds from old paychecks, insurance payouts, or dormant bank accounts are waiting, and if found they can file a claim online with proper documents. KKAM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock Fire Rescue completed its live fire training at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport (the only airport with a training field and fire station on its property) to practice emergency response for fires, plane crashes and triage challenges. KCBD

- ➤ Dairy Queen in Lubbock is launching breakfast-inspired treats today, featuring a Fruity Pebbles shake, a Cinnamon Toast Crunch dipped cone (with a cinnamon coating), and a Choco Frosted Donut Blizzard that mixes donut pieces with vanilla soft serve. KKAM
