  • Prosperity Bank and Metro Rotary will host the 23rd Unsung Heroes Award Ceremony on April 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Prosperity Bank Conference Center (1501 Avenue Q) to honor first responders and feature keynote Texas Tech Regent Clay Cash along with a tribute to fallen heroes.  KLBK

  • The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce will host the 2026 Expo on Thursday, May 21 at Lubbock Memorial Civic Center — starting with a ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m. and featuring Capra Tank LIVE from 1 to 2 p.m. with over 150 exhibitors showcasing demos and giveaways.  KLBK

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Museum at Texas Tech, located at 3301 Fourth St., will host free Dino Day on Saturday, May 2 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and a Megalodon lecture by paleontologist Robert W. Boessenecker on Thursday, Apr. 30 at 6 p.m., featuring live fossil demonstrations and interactive crafts.  FOX34

  • Lubbock Christian University will recognize its 2026 Alumni Awards recipients on Friday, May 8, at 11:45 a.m. at the Baker Conference Center on campus (the awards honor distinguished alumni for their achievements in education, business, ministry, medicine and university advancement).  KLBK

  • Amy Fulton is hosting a Pap Rally and Run on Saturday, May 9 to honor her sister Ashley, who died from cervical cancer last year. The event (organized with Cervivor) will offer education on early detection and support prevention efforts.  FOX34

  • The Texas Tech Pom Squad won gold at the International Cheer Union World Championships in Orlando on April 24, while the cheer group secured its second consecutive national title at the NCA National Collegiate Cheer & Dance Championships.
