- ➤ Sixty-five students with disabilities celebrated their first field day at Shallowater High School this morning, organized by Honda Shared Services Agency from local districts, which promoted friendship & inclusion through sports and a shared meal. KCBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Tech researchers received a $1.75M TxDOT grant and will install LiDAR devices at crosswalks in Lubbock as part of a four-year study to improve pedestrian safety + trigger flashing warnings when a crash is detected. KFYO
- ➤ The City of Lubbock has closed the westbound lane on 34th Street from Milwaukee Avenue to Upland Avenue starting at 9:00 a.m. today for emergency utility work and plans to complete repairs by day’s end while eastbound traffic remains open. KCBD
- ➤ The City of Lubbock activated new traffic signals at 146th Street and Quaker Avenue to improve safety and reduce delays. Drivers were urged to be extra cautious as they adjusted to the new pattern. KCBD

- ➤ Gene Turnipseed from Lubbock is returning to dancing after doctors at Covenant Health switched his prostate cancer treatment to a laser therapy that eased his pain + boosted his strength. His final treatment is scheduled in a couple weeks. KCBD
- ➤ Lubbock man Gene Turnipseed is receiving laser treatment at Covenant Health, which is helping reduce his pain so he can return to dancing. His innovative therapy (with no side effects) shows promise after traditional treatments failed, and he will complete his final session in a few weeks. FOX34
