  • Lubbock Impact received a $15,200 check from the Lubbock Apartment Association on Wednesday as part of its State of the City event. The donation supports programs that help working poor residents & strengthens local community outreach.  KCBD
  • Local law enforcement took part in the Special Olympics Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run this morning as a kickoff to tomorrow’s Special Olympics Summer Games. Officers now head to Melissa for the state run, which will build awareness for events like track and field, soccer, tennis and gymnastics.  KCBD

  • Just before 7 a.m. yesterday, Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a commercial building fire near 8th Street and Buddy Holly downtown — no injuries were reported as crews operated defensively.  KCBD

  • A new standalone Cinnabon is set to open soon at 1201 University on the corner of Broadway & University, replacing a former Freebirds Burrito. The restaurant may use a co-branding concept to offer locals a fresh treat option.  KKAM

  • Lubbock local Steffni Randale, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, is featured on TLC + One Day in My Body to inspire viewers after defying a grim prognosis and surpassing a predicted life expectancy of 7. The episode aired Wednesday night and is streaming today.  FOX34
