  • CASA of the South Plains kicked off its 20th annual Casas for CASA fundraiser — a raffle to help children in foster care by supporting volunteer advocates — with prizes including seven custom-built playhouses, a storage building, an enclosed trailer and a $3,500 Mastercard gift card. Tickets cost $5 and the fundraiser runs until May 30 with a drawing scheduled for May 30 at 5:30 p.m. — an event that will boost local support.  KFYO

  • An article gives help to Lubbock residents with a felony who need a job—suggesting they learn a new skill, visit local job centers, and join community groups. EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Plains Electric Cooperative is offering $500 Teacher Mini-Grants for eligible elementary and secondary teachers to fund projects and field trips during the 2025–2026 school year; applications are open now and will close May 16 at 5 p.m. Winners will be notified before the academic year starts—grants must fund activities that enhance classroom learning.  KFYO
  • Early voting results showed 66.8% of voters backed Lubbock ISD's $290 million bond proposal aimed at updating old buildings, boosting safety and expanding academics — 4,690 voted in favor while 2,335 opposed.  FOX34
