- ➤ 11-year-old Kaylee Hernandez raised nearly $3,000 on Lemonade Day at Lash and Brow Studio to help buy her late father's headstone; she purchased it Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home (a project made possible by the community's support). FOX34
- ➤ Today, two veterans from the Texas South Plains Honor Flight were recognized at the Military Women’s Memorial (the nation’s only tribute to over 3 million women veterans) near Arlington National Cemetery. - ➤ Canadian's Hemphill County Beef Cattle Conference has grown from 80 to over 800 attendees since its start in 2015, drawing producers from more than 100 Texas counties plus international visitors. This year's program will offer sessions on regenerative agriculture and a LiveAg replacement female sale with 500 head to boost profitability for ranchers. KLBK

- ➤ The Lubbock Police Department has opened registration for its free 2026 Youth Summer Police Academy for youth aged 14 to 20 until May 22. The academy (June 15 through 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) will offer training in physical fitness, traffic safety, patrol procedures, K-9 unit work and CPR and requires parents to attend an orientation. - ➤ TxDOT will repair a guardrail on South Loop 289 today between 50th Street and Quaker Avenue with lane and ramp closures until 4 p.m. The city will activate new traffic signals at 146th and Indiana today and begin sewer work at Zenith and 8th Wednesday (weather permitting). KCBD
- ➤ The City of Lubbock announced its new Business Development Director, Danielle Williams (with 17 years of experience in economic development and downtown revitalization). She previously led economic development in Victoria and will support local public-private partnerships. FOX34
