- ➤ Cade Powell, a Brownfield native, launched Flatland Youth Fund (a non-profit that awards scholarships for youth sports and extracurricular fees) with support from local sponsors. The program will start accepting applications in fall and seeks donations to help more kids join activities. KLBK
- ➤ Lubbock Fire Rescue invites community members to attend the regional Fallen First Responder Memorial today at 7:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Memorial on 6601 Quaker Avenue—honoring Firefighter Matt Dawson and all first responders—as a new plaque is unveiled. KLBK

- ➤ Two Lubbock entrepreneurs, Allison Childress and Michelle Alcorn, are on Inc.’s Female Founders 500 list for launching 'sam', a web-based culinary medicine app that helps people with chronic conditions create meal plans and grocery lists (the first from Hub City). They began the project at Texas Tech and won grants and awards to fund their business (a 100-percent women-owned startup that started in a garage). KCBD

- ➤ Lubbock Police arrested 21-year-old Tryon Bluitt on Wednesday afternoon near the 3000 block of South Loop 289 on charges of aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, discharging a firearm and possession of marijuana after he hit a woman with a pistol during an argument and fired at fleeing victims—officers later located a discarded pistol and shell casing. - ➤ A Lubbock family claims they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars after investing with Ferrum Capital—a firm run by local financial advisors accused of running a Ponzi scheme. The family has filed a claim in a bankruptcy case while related court hearings are set for June 9. KCBD

- ➤ Carillon House, a skilled nursing facility in Lubbock, won a 2024 Communities That Shine Award from LifeLoop for using technology to improve resident care—its memory care and rehab programs give residents better support. KCBD

- ➤ Texas Tech Athletics announced that all season tickets sold out for the 2025 football campaign after more than 33,000 tickets were purchased — marking the third straight sell-out and the fourth-highest allotment in school history.
