- ➤ Civic Lubbock, Inc. has extended the deadline to June 15 for local groups to sign up as sponsors, vendors, or volunteers for the upcoming 4th on Broadway celebration—organizers say the event will feature a parade, picnic, kids area, concert, and fireworks. FOX34
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Lubbock man died in a motorcycle crash in Midland late Thursday — officers say he lost control while trying to pass two vehicles and crashed into a guardrail at 8 p.m., and his death is under investigation. FOX34
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Leblanc’s Cajun Cooker—a popular food truck in Lubbock—will soon open a brick and mortar restaurant to offer its authentic Cajun dishes such as live crawfish and Gulf shrimp. No opening date or location has been set, and local fans should watch for further updates. KKAM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas Tech’s School of Veterinary Medicine will celebrate its first graduating class tomorrow at 12 p.m. in Amarillo—Governor Greg Abbott, House Speaker Dustin Burrows and university leaders are set to speak at the event. KCBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At midnight Thursday, 80% of House bills died+18 advanced including measures on property tax cuts, teacher pay raises and water infrastructure. Lubbock Rep. Carl Tepper had 11 bills pass while lawmakers will consider Senate measures on the floor until May 27. KLBK
