  • The Lubbock County Courthouse will host the free High Noon Summer Concert Series '26 from noon to 1 p.m. every Wednesday from June 3 to August 5, featuring local music, food trucks, and weekly raffle prizes + offering family fun at a downtown spot.  KFYO

  • A new Burlington store will soon open at 11915 Quaker near Vintage Township as Lubbock shoppers seek affordable options amid rising costs. The location will join other discount retailers + deliver value finds for local residents.  KFYO

CULTURE NEWS

  • Free live music returns as the 2026 Summer Showcase Concert Series kicks off today at the Buddy Holly Center with shows each Thursday in Meadows Courtyard (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.) until Aug. 13, featuring local artists Mark Wallney and Darren Welch.  KKAM
  • The Cactus Theater in Lubbock is hosting three tribute shows honoring rock legends. Mini Kiss performs Thursday at the theater—Def Leggend plays Saturday and Texas Flood will salute Stevie Ray Vaughan on June 29, offering local fans a lively weekend of music.  KKAM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dirt City Music Association is 90% toward its goal to fund TTU School of Music scholarships after support at Rock For Kids—only $1K remains needed to secure a lasting donation for local music education.  KKAM
  • Dirt City Music Association is 90% to fund its endowment with Texas Tech’s School of Music to support local music scholarships — only $1,000 is needed to reach the goal. Donations remain welcome to help ensure music education stays affordable for all children.  KFYO
  • Frenship ISD and Aramark will offer free summer meals for children 18 and under in Lubbock and Wolfforth from June 1 to July 24 (excluding July 6 to 10). Meals are served Monday to Friday at two locations: Frenship High School Soccer Complex and Duran Park.  KLBK
  • Noah Fierros from Floydada High School has his photo 'Requiem' selected as the winner of the annual Congressional Art Competition by Congressman Jodey Arrington and he will travel to Washington, D.C. on June 25 to display it as a representative of Texas' 19th Congressional District.  FOX34

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Lubbock will begin work on Broadway next week after the Fourth on Broadway Parade in July to replace historic brick between Avenues Q and E with concrete and modern brick pavers. The two-year project, which now costs $17.3 million, will work lane-by-lane to limit business disruption.  FOX34

HEALTH NEWS

  • UMC opened a new clinic in Wolfforth near Donald Preston Drive + U.S. 62 earlier this month. The facility offers more space, updated amenities, on-site lab and X-ray services, and a drive-thru for testing common illnesses like strep, flu and COVID.  FOX34

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Jolene, an 8-year-old mastiff mix rescued by Animal Services, is now looking for a forever home — she is spayed, vaccinated and well-trained, and she enjoys quiet car rides and park strolls at the Lubbock shelter.  FOX34
