GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas lawmakers held a rare Saturday session to honor fallen service members at the Fallen Heroes Memorial Ceremony. Lawmakers recognized Staff Sgt. Felix Berrios, Navy Seal Special Warfare Operator 2nd Class Nathan Ingram, and Marine Corps Major Tobin Lewis, and families received flags & proclamations from the state. KCBD
- ➤ Texas lawmakers approved a bill on Saturday that would require every public school classroom to display a copy of the Ten Commandments measuring 16 x 20 inches — the measure is set for a final vote before going to Gov Abbott, who is expected to sign it despite concerns over church-state separation. - ➤ Lubbock's newest fire station (the Eric Hill Memorial Station) will have a grand opening tomorrow at 10 a.m. near 142nd and Indiana; city and fire department leaders will host a ribbon cutting and guided tour. FOX34
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Local restaurants in Lubbock are switching from seed oils to beef tallow to fry foods, giving dishes a richer, old-fashioned taste. Cast Iron Grill and Anna’s Mexican Restaurant have started using beef fat, though some locals worry that the higher saturated fat may affect heart health + spark debate over the change. KKAM
