ECONOMY NEWS

  • Texas drivers see a drop in gas prices since Memorial Day, with the average now about $3.92 per gallon (down 17 cents from last week) even though rates remain over a dollar higher than last year.  KKAM

  • Texas Tech Professor Luis Rafael Herrera-Estrella was named a Fellow of the Royal Society today for his work in plant genomics and crop stress tolerance. This honor joins him with historic figures like Newton and Einstein.  KKAM

  • PJ Sullivan, an 80-year-old runner, has completed 50 marathons since 1966 + her latest race occurred last fall in Lubbock; she continues to run daily to inspire others to stay active.  FOX34
  • Texas Tech's softball team advanced to round two of the Women’s College World Series after an 8-0 run-rule win over Mississippi State and will play Tennessee at 2:00 p.m. today in Lubbock.  KCBD
