- ➤ The Lubbock Animal Shelter is asking local residents to foster puppies and other animals needing medical care after receiving nine litters on Monday—volunteers must provide a separate space during the animals’ temporary stay while the shelter covers all medical costs. KLBK

- ➤ Bierhaus on Broadway changed its dog policy after an off-leash dog bit a patron, and the business now bans dogs from its patio—local owners are urged to keep their pets leashed—ensuring shared spaces remain safe. KKAM
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock law enforcement is asking for help to find 10 fugitives who are considered armed and dangerous; 7 are new on the list, including Jabarick Ruth—wanted by the FBI—and one wanted by Tulia Police for aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon. KKAM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ In 1951, four Texas Tech professors in Lubbock saw between 15 and 30 bluish-green lights that many described as unusual. One expert said the lights might be birds—though the professors noted the uncommon speed and clear formation left the event shrouded in mystery. KKAM
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Over 10,000 West Texas residents lost power last night when severe storms brought large hail, high winds, and tornadoes. In Lubbock, 4,465 customers were without power at 8:47 p.m. as crews from multiple providers work to restore service—outages are reported in southwest, south, and southeast areas. - ➤ Today, the Lubbock County Local Emergency Planning Committee launched the 2025 Support Our First Responders Campaign to collect bottled water and cash donations for first responder groups through July 7th. Donors can drop off water at Market Street’s 3405 50th Street on Saturday, July 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.—mail donations are also accepted. KLBK
