The Center for Biological Diversity opposed a proposal to remove endangered status for the Dunes Sagebrush lizard, native to West Texas, after U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and state officials eased protections last week amid habitat loss from oil and gas development + legal challenges arose.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife and Texas filed a proposal on Wednesday (June 3) to remove its listing, and the nonprofit submitted opposition yesterday.

The City of Lubbock announced that starting Monday, June 8, MH Civil Constructions, Inc. will repair erosion near the Lake 6 Dam on Canyon Lake Drive and close both lanes to install improvements so drivers should avoid the area.
