- ➤ West Texas Hero Homes honored Marine Corps Corporal Michael Anderson by awarding his family a mortgage-free home after he was injured during his overseas service in 2010. His wife Jasmine and son Brody received strong local support and the family will move in by October. KCBD
- ➤ Mrs. Baird’s has donated 11,000 loaves of bread to help the South Plains Food Bank feed about 800 Lubbock children at 12 sites Monday through Friday this summer—employees also volunteered their time to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for kids this week. KCBD
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Texas Tech University Police reported that two officers were injured when a suspect shot them near Jones AT&T Stadium on Tuesday while responding to a suspicious vehicle at 12:45 a.m.—the suspect was killed on scene and both officers were taken to University Medical Center. KLBK

- ➤ Dairy Queen operators surprised patients, families, and staff at UMC Children's Hospital with treats and gifts as part of a surprise event celebrating Blizzard’s 40th anniversary. On July 31, every Dairy Queen in Lubbock will host Miracle Treat Day — $1 from each Blizzard sold will be donated to improve care for children. KCBD
- ➤ Lubbock pet owners are on alert for kennel cough as some dogs show signs such as coughing and lethargy — local veterinarians advise a vet visit if symptoms worsen, even in vaccinated animals. KKAM
