- ➤ KCBD launches its 23rd annual Live Community Coverage Tour this week by broadcasting 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts live from different sites in the area — from Plains at the Yoakum County Courthouse today to Crosbyton at the Farm and Ranch Museum on Tuesday, Turkey City Park on Wednesday, Downtown Lubbock at TJ Patterson Plaza on Thursday, and Ruidoso at Downshift Brewing Company on Friday. - ➤ The 20th Annual Hub City Beach Party will be held August 2 at Depot Patio in Lubbock starting at 6:00 p.m., with the Landsharks playing at 7:00 p.m.—the event will raise funds for children in the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services through Foster a Life's efforts. - ➤ Lubbock will host many live music shows this summer at Cook’s Garage and Buddy Holly Hall. Cook’s Garage will hold Rock the Hill with modern Christian acts on August 9 and feature Hudson Westbrook on August 29—Buddy Holly Hall will present Piano Men: Generations on August 15, Bobby Pulido on August 24, and Shakey Graves on August 27. - ➤ The Lubbock County Historical Commission invited the community to a Texas Historical Marker Unveiling Ceremony at the Slaton Harvey House on July 23rd at 10:30 a.m. — built in 1912 and once a busy stop for railroad passengers — the new marker will replace one lost to vandalism and guests will join a reception and guided tour afterwards. - ➤ A new study from iSeeCars shows rising used car prices in Lubbock as only 8.4% of cars now sell under $20,000—Toyota Camry prices jumped from $17,149 to $25,160. The report found that the average used car price increased from $26,747 to $36,105 since 2019 and links the shortage to pandemic-related production cuts. KKAM

- ➤ Lubbock Fire Rescue sent a team to Kerrville on Sunday afternoon to support state strike teams as part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System following a severe weather event that claimed many lives—an effort LFR said was needed—and the department said its thoughts and prayers are with those affected. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Texas lawmakers set vaccine rules for schools and childcare to help stop serious diseases. The Texas Department of State Health Services works with the Education Agency to enforce schedules for Hib, PCV, MMR, varicella and hepatitis A — parents must submit exemption forms or proof of past illness.
