  • The new Spins Vinyl Cafe will open next month in downtown Lubbock as owner Evelyn Mendez blends a unique coffee and vinyl music experience for longtime fans and new listeners. The cafe, located on 19th Street near Lubbock High and Texas Tech, will serve homemade tamales and a custom house espresso from a local West Texas distributor — creating a fresh meeting spot for music and food lovers.  KCBD

CRIME NEWS

  • Lubbock police arrested 18-year-old Zephaniah McCoy on July 23 for aggravated assault after a shooting in east Lubbock left 18-year-old Keimorrie Hardaway with a serious gunshot wound near 36th and Ave A plus investigators said the groups had argued before the incident.  FOX34
  • Lubbock police detained 18-year-old Zephaniah McCoy in connection with a Tuesday afternoon shooting in East Lubbock that seriously injured Keimorrie Hardaway after a verbal dispute—McCoy was arrested around 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday while Hardaway was taken to University Medical Center—.  KLBK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lubbock Fire Rescue began using a new dispatch system called Pheonix G2 that has shortened response times by 15—20 seconds per call by automating tasks that dispatchers used to do manually. The fire service has installed it in three stations and will complete installation in all 20 stations by this fall.  KLBK
