  • On Thursday, July 31, Dairy Queens in Lubbock will donate one dollar from each Blizzard purchase to UMC Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network; five locations will stay open until 10 p.m. while the Wolfforth store closes at 9 p.m.—each treat will fund equipment and services for local kids.  KCBD
  • A recent commentary argues that Lubbock could earn the title of 'Friendliest City in America' if residents improve driving habits and greet visitors more warmly—simple actions such as using turn signals and extending a friendly wave can help boost community pride. ECONOMY NEWS

  • On July 27, Lubbock's regular gas averaged $2.59, making it second lowest in Texas + San Angelo led with $2.56 while Dallas reached $2.93 and the national average was $2.76.  KLBK

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT launched a new public service announcement featuring country singer Parker McCollum to remind drivers to slow down on Texas highways, and the ad airs this week as part of its safe driving campaign. Operation Slowdown began on July 18 and runs until August 3 — teaming with local law enforcement to enforce speed limits.  KLBK
