- ➤ Lubbock ISD students built two homes from scratch for families in east Lubbock in a partnership with Habitat for Humanity; one home will be finished next month—allowing a family to move in before Christmas. KCBD
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Nickolas Deleon, 29, was indicted by a Lubbock grand jury for the stabbing of 50-year-old Erin Neudorf on July 9 at 7:40 a.m. in the 6600 block of North CR 1630—deputies found her with life-threatening injuries and she died at the scene. FOX34
- ➤ On July 9, a 29-year-old man was indicted after deputies answered a 7:40 a.m. distress call on North CR 1630 in Lubbock that led to the discovery of 50-year-old Erin Neudorf with life-threatening injuries—she later died. KCBD
- ➤ A Lubbock grand jury indicted Maurice King for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police responded on Aug. 7 to reports of shots fired on the 500 block of E. Municipal Dr. and found 54-year-old Sonia Green with several gunshot wounds—King was arrested that night and faces a $150,000 bond. FOX34

- ➤ United Supermarkets and Mrs. Baird’s start the 15th annual Teachers on the Rise program today to honor local teachers picked by students. Each month the program will name one elementary, one middle and one high school teacher— with prizes and back-to-school treats given. KCBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday, August 12, Lubbock IT staff found potentially malicious code on one computer and city management temporarily took systems offline for safety — public access systems were restored within 24 hours and no data breach occurred. FOX34
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health officials announced that the West Texas measles outbreak ended after 42 days with no new cases— the virus had caused two child deaths and 99 hospitalizations. They credited local health workers for containing the spread. KKAM
- ➤ TTUHSC's TexLa Telehealth Resource Center got a $1.3 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration Telehealth Resource Center Program—providing $325,000 per year until 2029—to boost telehealth services in rural areas of Texas and Louisiana. FOX34
