- ➤ Runners gathered at Mackenzie Park on Saturday for the annual 9/11 Hero Run to honor heroes and raise funds for veterans and first responders through the Travis Manion Foundation—efforts that support programs for those who served. Veteran Joseph Camarillo said the donations will aid local and national veteran services. FOX34
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock police said that on Saturday at 6:10 p.m., a collision between a car and a motorcycle on South Loop & Slide left two people with moderate injuries. KCBD
- ➤ On Saturday evening, Lubbock police said a motorcycle rider died at 19th and Wausau after hitting a car—another rider was seriously hurt and one more was taken to UMC with minor injuries, following a crash at Slide and the South Loop less than 30 minutes earlier. KCBD
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The I-27 Advisory Committee named Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish as its chairman. He has served on the committee since 2021 and will advise on expanding I-27 and developing the Ports to Plains Corridor—plans that aim to improve regional transport. KCBD
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Local hospitals UMC and Covenant received B ratings in Spring 2025 from the Leapfrog Group for patient safety and will hold these ratings for Fall 2025—while Covenant Plainview earned an A for its strong care standards. The grades show how well the hospitals kept infections low, prevented surgery mistakes, and managed safety issues. KFYO
