- ➤ Two Lubbock deputies, Andrew Cavasos and Jorge Martinez, are recovering at home after a crash on I-27 on Sept. 8 while helping a stranded driver. A fundraiser has been launched with limited edition shirts designed by retired trooper Jerimy Tindal to pay for unexpected costs + the shirts are available online through Sept. 22. KCBD
- ➤ On Wednesday evening, members of the Lubbock community gathered at Trinity Church for a candlelight vigil to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot on Sept. 10. Speakers including Mayor Mark McBrayer and local Turning Point USA groups said the event brought the community together as his message endured — a call for hope and unity. The Daily Toreader
- ➤ On Wednesday, nearly every seat in Trinity Church's auditorium that holds 2,000 people filled as local residents, including Mayor Mark McBrayer and members of Texas Tech Turning Point USA, gathered to honor Charlie Kirk, who was killed at an event in Utah a week ago. - ➤ Hogan is a 3-month-old large breed puppy found as a stray who weighs about 20 lbs and is good with cats and dogs (he is up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and has been treated for fleas and neutered) and is available for adoption at Lubbock Animal Shelter today. FOX34
- ➤ Resthaven Funeral Homes served a home-cooked meal on Wednesday to Lubbock officers from several law enforcement agencies to thank them for their service — the gathering also offered officers a chance to relax and enjoy a few prizes. FOX34

- ➤ The Buddy Holly Center will host a closing reception for the exhibition On the Prime Meridian on Sunday, September 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.—guests will have one last chance to view the art, enjoy light refreshments and an interactive Map Game with prizes, and Willa Finley will give a gallery talk at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to everyone. - ➤ Justin Willman will bring his magic and comedy to The Buddy Holly Hall on September 21 — his biggest live show with new illusions for families and friends. Tickets go on sale on June 13 at the box office and online for an evening that promises jaw-dropping tricks and lots of laughs. KKAM
