- ➤ Covenant Children’s in Lubbock has partnered with Spirit Halloween for its 16th annual Spirit of Children fundraiser to support over 10,000 daily therapeutic play and healing activities for young patients. Shoppers will use a special coupon at Spirit Halloween locations on 5402 4th Street, 2502 50th Street, and 6002 Slide Road to help fund these essential services+ strengthening community care. KCBD
- ➤ Tim Assiter, owner of Assiter Punkin Ranch, said the harvest stayed steady in number but improved in quality with better rain and upgraded irrigation—70% of sales now feature specialty pumpkins in seven colors. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish announced his reelection campaign for county judge 2026 today. He has handled more than 7,000 cases since 2019 and cited the county’s expected growth to 500,000 by 2040 as a reason to act now—no other candidate has announced for the office. FOX34
- ➤ Attorney General Ken Paxton is set to speak at a Turning Point USA event hosted by Texas Tech University at Cook’s Garage in Lubbock on Tuesday, October 7—doors open at 6:00 p.m. CT and the program starts at 7:00 p.m. CT. The event, open to the public with preferred seating for students, follows a similar session held in Houston. FOX34
- ➤ The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said today its non-emergency and administrative lines are down while 911 remains available for emergencies. Officials have not estimated a fix time—residents should use 911 if immediate help is needed. FOX34
- ➤ The Walter family was surprised when a large piece of NASA research equipment attached to a parachute landed on a Hale County farm near Edmonton Thursday morning—after they saw it approach, they contacted the sheriff’s office—and NASA is working to retrieve the device. FOX34
- ➤ County Judge Curtis Parrish announced his reelection campaign today and said he will keep working on plans to handle Lubbock County's growth while he has already presided over more than 7,000 cases since 2019—no other candidate has yet entered the race. - ➤ Residents in Lubbock can drop off unused medications for safe disposal tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the TTUHSC lot—trained volunteers will collect and sort prescriptions and sharps to help protect families, the community, and the environment. FOX34
- ➤ A health inspection in Lubbock found 34 violations at Abuelo’s at 4401 82nd, including moldy food, unsafe temperatures and dirty conditions on equipment and utensils.
