- ➤ On Halloween night, Second Baptist Church at 6109 Chicago Avenue will host a family trunk-or-treat starting at 5:30 p.m.—it gives local families a safe way to enjoy the holiday. Lubbock will see many festive events this season. KKAM
- ➤ KCBD’s Kase Wilbanks and Christy Hartin carved soldier designs at the Reliant Pumpkin Carving Competition held Tuesday at Hodges Community Center and won a $3,000 donation for the Texas South Plains Honor Flight, which honors veterans by providing free trips to war memorials in Washington, D.C. The contest was a part of the annual Pumpkin Trail at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum that runs through Sunday. KCBD
- ➤ Jenifer is a 2-year-old pit mix who came to Lubbock Animal Shelter in August while pregnant and raised 13 puppies that now have homes; she is ready to join a new family. She loves riding in cars with open windows and enjoys belly rubs — she is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. FOX34

- ➤ Texans keep the tradition that chili is served without beans—local cook-offs and recipes ban beans—to hold on to the flavor passed down for centuries. KFYO
- ➤ Lubbock’s 31st Annual Grape Day Festival will be held at Llano Estacado Winery on October 18 from 11 AM to 6 PM—offering live music, wine tastings and local food in celebration of the grape harvest. KKAM
- ➤ Lubbock’s LHUCA will host the Hub City Renaissance Faire on Saturday, October 18, where visitors will enjoy artisan markets, street performers, and themed games while wearing playful costumes. The event will run from 11:00 AM + 8:00 PM at LHUCA+511 Avenue K. KKAM

- ➤ Laura Beth and Brian Pleasant, a Lubbock couple, welcomed their daughter Breklyn after a 12-year fertility journey that included a miscarriage and a second embryo transfer with a donor. They credited March of Dimes research and treatments — progesterone and low dose aspirin — with helping her pregnancy hold steady as they now look forward to meeting the donor family. FOX34

- ➤ Spirit Halloween hosted its annual Halloween party Tuesday at Covenant Children’s Hospital so that children could dress up as ninjas, princesses + woodland creatures despite their treatment.
