  • The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Harvest Luncheon, bringing regional agriculture experts together to mark the start of harvest season and discuss ways to keep farming strong. CULTURE NEWS

  • Rich Puryear has built a classic car collection inspired by American Graffiti to share his deep love for cars. He and his father will display the tribute at Highland Oaks from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this Saturday—giving locals a chance to relive movie memories.  FOX34
  • Residents in Lubbock use their daily small talk to discuss weather, traffic, and tacos while out and about, connecting with each other during errands and visits to local spots. Newcomers may find the friendly exchanges unusual (yet they reflect the town’s close-knit style).  KKAM
  • Local theaters present several spooky season shows with musical adaptations, including 'Narnia: The Musical' at Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre, the rock musical 'Lizzie' at the CH Foundation Black Box Theatre, and a fresh take on 'Legend of Sleepy Hollow' at the CATS Playhouse—some performances offer free or low-cost tickets for students.   • Victory Auto Group is launching a fall program that gives a $100 gift card each week to a student who excels in academics, sports or leadership. Teachers, parents and community members can nominate students to help recognize hard work and achievement.  KKAM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two Lubbock restaurants—Cafe J (2605 19th) and Jack N Jill Donuts (9810 Slide)—were cited for nearly 60 health violations during a recent inspection, with Cafe J receiving 39 and Jack N Jill Donuts 17 issues covering unsafe food temperatures and unsanitary utensil storage. Most violations were corrected on the spot, though the inspector noted the problems pointed to a lack of food safety knowledge.  FOX34
  • A Consumer Reports study tested 23 protein products and found that more than two-thirds had lead levels above safe limits — a Texas Tech dietitian urged getting most protein from food instead of relying on supplements.  FOX34

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Doc's Cafeteria serves hearty soul food with its one stop buffet system at 4919 34th St. where diners choose meat, five sides, bread, dessert and a drink while friendly staff provide fast service. The locally owned restaurant run by the family behind Lee's, Royal Seafood and Bucket of Love holds a Yelp rating of 4.1 and now offers food delivery through DoorDash.  KKAM

  • Harlem Globetrotters announced they will bring their centennial celebration tour to Lubbock on March 29 at 3:00 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena—facing the Washington Generals with new 100-Year jerseys and options for presale tickets that began on October 14 and general sales that start today at 10:00 a.m.  KKAM
