EDUCATION NEWS

  • Children ages three to five learned road safety and raced on tricycles at Safety City as Lubbock ISD hosted its first Tricycle Derby. The event provided helmets for safety (with families and staff cheering) and the district plans to hold it yearly.  FOX34

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT warned pedestrians to look both ways and use crosswalks after 773 pedestrian deaths were recorded across Texas last year—October being the deadliest month. The department advised making eye contact with drivers and putting away phones to help avoid accidents.  KKAM

  • A crowd gathered Saturday at Mae Simmons Park for the fourth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk to honor survivors and raise funds for local patients—organizers said the event showed strong community support for fighting breast cancer.  KCBD
