  • Madison Mauch, a Lubbock resident, saved a South Plains puppy named Willie who was days from dying by taking him from the Levelland Animal Shelter and treating his severe skin condition. She used creams, medications, and constant care—helping him recover steadily—while nearly 250 dogs wait for forever homes at the shelter.  FOX34
  • Community Christian Church will host its annual Holiday Extravaganza on Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.—offering gift baskets, wreaths and baked treats for early holiday shopping. All proceeds will benefit Lubbock Meals on Wheels.  KCBD

  • Texas Tech College of Media & Communication celebrated 100 years of student journalism Friday at the McKenzie-Merket Alumni Center (Oct. 24) where students and alumni gathered for a centennial dinner and previewed a coffee table book documenting their work. The centennial will be recognized on the field today during the Oklahoma State-Texas Tech game (marking a milestone in student media).  FOX34

  • The South Plains Food Bank is set to help over 10,000 federal workers and more than 500 service members who are not receiving pay due to the government shutdown.
