  • Michael Anderson, a Marine Corps veteran, and his family will move into a new home—built by West Texas Hero Homes over the last six months to meet his needs and give baby Brodie a place to grow up, as announced by the builder.  FOX34
  • Mary Kay donated $20,000 to a Lubbock women's shelter to upgrade its kitchen—renovations will help the facility serve more women and children safely. The donation was announced as part of a Go Give Award received by Jaci Baccus.  KCBD
  • ServPro of Lubbock honored three local first responders—Lieutenant Brett Assiter of Lubbock Fire Rescue, Investigator Joe Camacho from the Police Department, and Tana Detwiler of Cottle County EMS; Detwiler was recognized via her nominator despite missing the ceremony and all three will compete nationally with the winner to be announced in December.  KCBD

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Sandwich Spot opened Monday, October 27 at 5707 4th Street in Lubbock and now serves over 27 sandwich varieties with local names like Raider Reuben and Buddy Holly Blvd. The restaurant operates daily from 11am to 7pm.  KKAM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • After Texas Tech absorbed its alumni association in July, Raider Rojos became an independent group—filing for 501(c)(3) status and securing a new off-campus space.
