COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Local drive-thru workers, teachers, city crews and more show up early to keep Lubbock running smoothly. Their work fixes water lines in tough weather, helps kids travel safely and serves customers with care.  KKAM
  • Bombshells Restaurant & Bar in Lubbock will offer free entrées on Tuesday, November 11 for veterans and active-duty military at all 13 locations in Texas and Colorado; the restaurant requires a valid military ID and will donate $1 per Fried Pickle Bayonets order to the PTSD Foundation of America’s Camp Hope while veterans also receive a 20% dine-in discount year-round.  KKAM
  • Market Street will host the Entertaining Made Easy Expo on Sunday, November 9th from 11am to 5pm at its Texas locations as students from Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD and Frenship ISD present festive recipes, tablescapes and décor ideas. Visitors can sample seasonal treats and vote for the best display with prizes including a $250 gift card and a $1,000 award — the expo spotlights local talent and holiday spirit.  KKAM

  • This weekend in Lubbock, Texas, Texas Tech's Maedgen Theater presents Hamlet running through Sunday while At’l Do Farms’ Corn Maze opens Friday evening and Día de los Muertos celebrations begin at the Buddy Holly Center and International Culture Center. A John Denver tribute brings holiday spirit Saturday at Buddy Holly Hall, rounding out a busy lineup for local arts and fall festivities.  FOX34

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lubbock Police Department urged fans to follow the law and plan ahead as about 60,000—70,000 people are expected at Texas Tech’s big game against BYU on Saturday. Extra officers and mounted patrol units will be deployed while police and Texas Tech work with partners to ensure a safe game day and remind everyone to drink responsibly.  KCBD
