  • A Lubbock veteran turned 75 yesterday when he and his cousin Don Rohde rode 75 miles from New Deal to Hale Center and back to mark their birthday—both pushed their limits despite health challenges from past strokes and irregular heartbeats.  KCBD
  • Local firefighters worked with Westwind Elementary to give 1,400 coats to students—continuing a tradition that began 13 years ago when officers first donated funds to buy jackets. The annual Coats for Kids drive and its fundraising golf tournament support buying more coats for local students.  KCBD
  • Meals on Wheels needs local help for its Senior Secret Santa program as it received 900 wish lists and 300 seniors still wait for gifts—items like leather gloves, robes, and warm socks.   • Students at Rawls College of Business pitched their projects to customers at ‘The Marketplace’ on Wednesday—showcasing Texas-themed golf wear, sustainable designs, and digital clothing brands while raising funds for UMC Children’s Hospital.   • The Lubbock County Expo Center board has finalized its plan for a new multi-purpose venue in north Lubbock— and will soon present it to county commissioners for approval, with an all-in budget of $67 million from hotel tax collections and private funds. The center is set to boost the local economy by hosting rodeos, concerts, and various events once built.  FOX34
  • Yesterday, Lubbock County Expo Center officials held a press conference at 10 a.m.—Chairman Randy Jordan provided a progress update with board members and community supporters in attendance.  KCBD
