  • The Science Spectrum will host its Holiday Wonderland event on December 6th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. where families can enjoy free cookie decorating, warm cocoa, hands-on S.T.E.A.M. crafts, and a giant Christmas tree display—kids may also spot Atom the Elf on the Shelf to win a prize.  KKAM
  • United Valor—a motorcycle club for veterans and their families—hosted its annual Jericho Ride on Loop 289 Saturday to raise safety awareness and funds for a rider in need. Motorcyclists rode the loop to promote better cooperation between drivers and bikers.  FOX34
  • A Lubbock native was crowned Ms. Wheelchair Texas on Saturday when Elisha Aguirre received her crown and sash during the pageant that honors mobility-impaired achievers—she will travel next year to raise awareness for home healthcare and medical insurance before competing in Ms. Wheelchair America.  FOX34

BUSINESS NEWS

  • United Supermarkets will eliminate 126 positions at its Lubbock headquarters beginning Jan. 19 as part of a move to more efficient operating systems+ the layoffs will affect director, marketing, and support desk roles as the company works to reassign impacted employees.  FOX34

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Lubbock Professional Firefighter’s Association is seeking public input on a proposed work schedule change that aims to reduce firefighter workload and possibly create new jobs—association president Joseph Wallace said the change is meant to boost firefighter health and performance. The association is reviewing feedback before a final decision is made.  KCBD
  • The Lubbock Professional Firefighter’s Association is asking the public for ideas on a possible change to its work schedule — a change that may lower firefighter strain and add jobs. The proposal will be reviewed to see how it can improve firefighter health and work performance.  FOX34
