  • More than 150 small businesses are planning to offer specials at KK’s Corner Mall for a weekend of local shopping — the event supports local families including a nurse running her booth as a side business and a woman with cancer who relies on sales for income.  FOX34
  • ECHO West Texas will host a gingerbread festival on December 16 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Lubbock Civic Center to raise funds for families experiencing homelessness—ticket purchases directly support its mission and the event will feature a gingerbread house contest, Pancakes with Santa, and a holiday market.  KCBD

CRIME NEWS

  • Amazon spokesperson Jesse Garcia gave clear tips to help keep holiday packages safe from theft. He said using pickup lockers and smart cameras (like Ring cameras) can guide drivers to place packages in secure spots.  KCBD

  • Lubbock’s Free Horror Art Cosplay Expo will be held from December 12th to 14th at MCM Elegante Hotel—local horror fans can explore art, join cosplay contests between 3 to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and meet renowned artist Nastiya Grushovenko and voice actor Marty Grabstein. Entrance is free with optional VIP packages available online.  KFYO

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ClearTech Aviation School is now a Cirrus Training Center after getting a new advanced airplane that makes it the only center in a 450 nautical mile range (517 miles). Chief Flight Instructor Brady Moyers said the new airplane is very safe and helps modern students learn to fly across West Texas and beyond.  KCBD

  • Lubbock's Citibus announces a fare change for Paratransit and On-Demand services starting January 1, 2026 — with new fares ranging from $2 to $10 — while fixed-route fares remain $1.  KKAM
  • The Texas DPS warned holiday shoppers to use secure sites and unique passwords as scammers target online buyers during the busy season—shoppers are also urged to monitor bank accounts and consider digital wallets. This advisory comes as cyber crimes increase from October through December.  KKAM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Chad Curry from UMC EMS said knowing CPR may save lives during cardiac emergencies as his team receives about 40-50 calls a month and provides free CPR training to schools, churches and businesses in Lubbock. Lubbock resident Ethan Gallegos recently used CPR on an unresponsive man near a daycare, showing how bystander CPR can make a lifesaving difference.  FOX34

  • Wichita Falls' own Jacob Rodriquez from Texas Tech was named as one of three finalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award for best defensive player in college football—his honor will be announced on December 12th and his team will play one more game against West Virginia this Saturday.  KKAM
