  • Lubbock’s Helping Paws campaign enters its eighth year as it collects food, clothing and blanket donations from pet owners until Dec. 15, with Lubbock Animal Services set to distribute the items on Dec. 22 to support both pets and their owners.  FOX34

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Abbotts Frozen Custard closed permanently on Slide Road after celebrating its first anniversary, leaving locals to search for frozen treats elsewhere. Rising costs have hit the food service industry, forcing some businesses to scale back.  KFYO
  • Many Texas retailers closed their doors on Thanksgiving so staff could enjoy family time instead of prepping for Black Friday. Several businesses had not disclosed their Black Friday hours — updates were promised as plans were finalized.  KKAM

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lubbock native David Winger, a 2023 Frenship High grad, completed summer training aboard the USS Boxer and is now studying at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis — where he will soon commission as a Navy officer. His journey reflects West Texas pride.  KFYO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office held a memorial service Tuesday afternoon for K-9 Arlo, featuring flag honors & lights and sirens at the office near Broadway and Avenue F. Arlo served the community for four years, and his memorial wreath is on display until Monday.  KCBD

LIFESTYLE NEWS
