- ➤ Officials broke ground on Dec. 11 and renamed the park Pickering Park to honor the family whose donation enabled the $12.1 million project. The park will include a concert area (green space, food trucks, game and art zones, and a dog run) and is scheduled to open in 9-10 months. KKAM
- ➤ Veterans Food Bank of Lubbock launched a holiday food drive to support veterans in need; local businesses offer drop-offs at QDOBA, Hub City Organics, and Mom and Pop’s barber shop (drive contributions have reached 20% of its goal). KCBD
- ➤ Lubbock’s historic Kitalou Gin will host the 2nd Annual Carne Guisada Cook-Off on January 10, 2026 to feature local chefs, live music, and fundraising for Meals On Wheels. The event begins at noon at (6008 East, County Rd 6300) and welcomes families to enjoy West Texas flavors. KFYO
