Lubbock County's election results ran late after a scanner failed at one early voting site
The Daily Lubbock team
If you went to bed Tuesday without final numbers, here's why. Elections Administrator Troy Havard said a machine malfunction at one early voting location was the first sign of trouble. Workers spotted the error Oct. 22 and replaced the machine, but it happened again. The county's release said the scanner's v-drives were unreadable, so Central Count rescanned every paper ballot from that site. Unofficial results came out Wednesday morning.
One early voting site's rescan held up the county's count
- 5,681
- ballots rescanned from one early voting location
- 1,700
- limited ballots also rescanned
- 40%
- of registered voters cast ballots during early voting
